ICAN ride Melbourne to Canberra 2-20 September 2018 for Treaty to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons
2 Sep - 20 Sep
THIS September, ICAN is organising a bike ride, cycling from Melbourne to Canberra to carry the Nobel Peace Prize and the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons to Parliament House. The demand is clear: Australia must sign and ratify the nuclear weapon ban treaty! With the national Labor conference and a federal election looming, the time is right to get active and loud.
We are seeking participants to be part of the cycle team for part of all of the journey from Melbourne to Canberra. If you’re interested, please complete the ‘expression of interest‘ form.
There will be a public send-off in Melbourne on Sunday 2nd September and a big arrival rally in Canberra on Thursday 20th September, marking one year since the nuclear ban treaty opened for signature. Details coming soon.
We are also seeking donations to help make this epic adventure a success. Please donate here.
The itinerary and further details are on our website: www.icanw.org/au/
We need your support to maximise public, political and media attention on this issue. While Australia hasn’t yet signed on to the treaty, we believe it’s inevitable. Let’s make it happen.
