Pax Christi Scholarships to Cover Conference Registration Fee

A Just and Ecologically Sustainable Peace 23-24 April 2019

Pax Christi is awarding up to TEN (10) scholarships. Each scholarship covers the registration fee for the full two days of the Conference.  Applications are due on 15 January 2019.

Who is eligible to apply:

·Indigenous Australians

·Pacific Islanders residing in their home country

·Refugees and asylum seekers currently resident in Australia

·Full time Australian students currently completing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree

·Young Australians aged 20 to 35 in the early stages of their careers.

Key Criteria

Apart from satisfying the eligibility requirements, successful applicants will need to demonstrate that:

·They have an on-going interest in issues of peace, justice and environment

·They have a record of community engagement, whether at a local, national or international level

·They have a strong commitment to developing the ideas and action possibilities arising from the conference

·They will submit to Pax Christi by Friday 10 May a 600-word report setting out:

»What were for them the highlights of the conference

»The most useful insights they gained from it

»The contacts they made at the Conference and how they intend to maintain and develop them

»the practical ways in which they plan to apply some of these ideas and insights over the coming 12 months and beyond

»the specific ways in which they will over the coming 12 months spread the word about what they have learnt – both within and outside their existing networks. This may include but will not be limited to participation in one or more Pax Christi meetings, forums or gatherings.

Applications must be submitted by Friday 1 February 2019 using the form provided for the purpose.

Pax Christi will carefully consider each application, and announce the successful applicants by Friday 15th January. The selection process will be strictly confidential and will not be open to appeal.
