Dear friends,
An ambitious but timely project Military Security or Human Security? is about to get under way. Several months in the planning, we are about to take the first step with a webinar on Thursday 29 February, 7.00 pm Melb/Sydney (London 8:00 am / Auckland 10.00 pm). For full details see attached flyer
On behalf of Pax Christi in Victoria, may I extend a warm invitation to you to attend.

We live in troubled times. Ukraine, Gaza, great power rivalries, a warming planet, humanitarian crises in every continent, the rise of extremism, a rapidly warming planet, a mental illness epidemic, and in the meantime incomprehensible levels of spending on war and preparations for war. And in Australia, the ill-fated outcome of the Voice to Parliament. The list goes on.
Millions around the world are beavering away to safeguard the human future. But the transition away from militarism requires more than this. We need to develop a new narrative that gives centre stage to the needs and dignity of all human beings and to respect for nature. And for this, we need to come together and share our experiences, insights, energies and skills.
The webinar is but a first step in a long journey that will involve many groups, much reflection and conversation, and a great deal of work.
As the convener of the Human Security Working Group, I have been asked to present the key ideas behind the project at this webinar. Naomi Wolfe, a trawloolway woman, Lecturer of Indigenous Studies, and a lively and insightful speaker, will offer a response.
As we take this first step, let us explore together the opportunities that lie ahead.
