An IPAN South-West Victoria Regional Group was recently established in May in Warrnambool and Portland – two major regional centres in south-west Victoria.
Local residents, Gillian Blair and Julie Hart, invited Shirley Winton, Victorian coordinator of the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network, to speak at 2 public meetings in Warrnambool and Portland and help local residents establish the south-west Victoria regional IPAN group .
Shirley Winton was interviewed on local regional ABC FM, and 3WAY FM community radio stations in Warrnambool. Gillian, Julie and Shirley were interviewed by the Warrnambool Standard newspaper – see article below.
The meetings were well attended by local residents and unionists enthusiastic to start up a regional IPAN group. Margaret Donehue, Secretary of the South West Trades and Labour Council, has kindly offered the venue for our monthly meetings.
