Following a lively rally outside the Council meeting on 4th April, 2022, Wollongong City Council voted 9 to 4 to accept a motion from Councillor Mithra Cox to Reaffirm its Nuclear Free Zone status, and also rejected a motion to welcome a nuclear base in Port Kembla.
